There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long-range risks of comfortable inaction
"Let's go to the tomb and finish preparing His body." Joanna said to all the other women including Jesus' mother and Mary Magdalene
All the women were somber as they walked to the tomb that early morning.
Joanna thought, "Why did this need to happen?"
Joanna recalled horrific events that happened the day before.
Jesus was carrying the heavy Cross to Golgotha. His sides were marked with the lines from the flogging. Blood was dripping down from his head because of the crown of thorns.
When Jesus reached the hill, the soldiers pinned Him down on the Cross. They pierced his hands and feet. Jesus hung on the Cross from noon to three in the afternoon. Then He said, "It is finished!*" and He died.
All the women gasped as they saw the empty tomb.
The stone was rolled away and no one was inside the tomb.
"Where is the Lord's body?" Mary Magdalene said to her companions.
"Someone must have stolen His body!" Joanna said.
"Where could His body be?" Mary the mother of Jesus wondered.
Then bright, gleaming persons who looked like men stood outside of the tomb.
The women fell face-forwarded to the ground in fear of the bright men. They asked Joanna and her companions, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!**"
They also told them that Jesus predicted he was going to die and resurrect.
After Joanna and her companions heard this, they hurried back to the disciples.
When they went inside the room, all the women were joyful and breathless.
"Jesus is alive!" Joanna and Mary Magdalene shouted out excitedly.
"He is alive!" Mary Magdalene said.
"No, he can't be." Thomas said.
"We all saw Him die; he can't be alive." All the disciples said.
However, Peter got up, and left the group.
He hurried to the tomb with John.
When they got there, the tomb was empty and the burial cloths were laid in a neat pile.
He is alive.
I am glad Christ is alive.
He is waiting for many of you to come to Him.
Salvation is a gift to you.
He died for us because he loves us.
